Danny Lee Johnson Stout, Professional Fireman and Murray State University Football Hall of Fame inductee, has published his first book titled, Life Journey Beyond the End Zone. A thirty- four-year veteran of the Evansville Fire Department, Danny shares his story of growing up in Dorena, Missouri with an abusive, drug addicted, alcoholic father who threatened to kill the entire family. Danny overcame being kicked out of his father’s home at 12 years old, and sleeping on the locker room floor in his school for three weeks while his football coaches worked to obtain welfare, food stamps and placement in a foster home. At a time when Blacks and Whites did not get along well, five white families embraced Danny as part of their families, and to this day they are still close. In honor of one particular close family, Danny has taken the last name Stout as his own. Danny’s determination helped him to overcome his troubled and humble beginnings to achieve success on the football field, and ultimately induction into the Murray State University Football Hall of Fame. After his football career ended, Danny achieved success as a professional fireman and will retire in 2021. Danny’s success continues with his lovely wife of 34 years and his two accomplished sons.
